Today I want to talk about something that I don't know how many people are familiar with, FreeCycle. FreeCycle is a website where you can join people in your town who are giving and getting stuff for free. I found this website about a year ago when a friend of mind told me about it. I never knew that such a thing existed. It is a great site and I feel it is worth taking a look at.
The site promotes giving people things or getting things from people in order to reduce waste and keep our landfills from being over run by things that can be used by someone else. You would be amazed at the things people don't want or need anymore and are looking for someone to just come pick it up. I know some people are very cautious about going to a strangers house, but from what I understand and have experience, most people set the items outside when they know you are coming to pick them up.
When you first go on the site you want to become a member. Membership is free so it does not hurt to sign up. Then you would look for a freecycle group in your state and city. You can join as many as you want. Once you become a member, you can browse your city for things that people no longer want and need someone to pick the item/items up. There are also people needing things and they also will have their request posted.
This site is another way to help save money and make your bucks go further by finding something you need without putting out any money for it and keeping things out of our landfills that are still usable by someone. With everyone trying to go "Green" this is a perfect example of helping our environment.
I hope you will take a few minutes and check-out the site. I don't think you will be sorry. I felt it was worth blogging about this site, because this site was something that I did not know about and once I explored it, I knew it was worth mentioning for everyone who is trying to save some cash. Please check it out at
Here and let me know what you think. Please post your comments.
